The US Invasion Of Iran

Has Begun!

As with Iraq, "president" Bush is conditioning the American public and an all-too-compliant media to accept the merits of regime change in Iran, linking the regime of the Mullahs to an "Axis Of Evil" (together with the newly "liberated" Iraq and North Korea), and speaking of the absolute requirement for the spread of "democracy" to the Iranian people.

"Liberation" and the spread of "democracy" have become none-too-subtle code words within the neo-conservative cabal that formulates and executes American foreign policy today for militarism and war.

By the intensity of the "liberation/democracy" rhetoric alone, we should be put on notice that Iran is well-fixed in the cross-hairs as the next target.

But Americans, and indeed much of the rest of the world, continue to be lulled into a false sense of complacency by the fact that overt conventional military operations have not yet commenced.

As such, many hold out the false hope that an extension of the current insanity in Iraq can be postponed or prevented in the case of Iran.  This is a fool's dream.

Half Truths, Lies, and "Invasions"

Americans, along with the rest of the world, are starting to wake up to the uncomfortable fact that Bush not only lied to them about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, but also about the very process that led to war.

On 16 October 2002, he lied to the American people that "I have not ordered the use of force.  I hope that the use of force will not become necessary."  In fact, by late August 2002, he had authorised the US military to begin active military operations inside Iraq, and these orders were being implemented as early as September 2002, when the US Air Force, assisted by the British Royal Air Force, began expanding its bombardment of targets inside and outside the so-called no-fly zone in Iraq.

These operations were designed to degrade Iraqi air defence and command and control capabilities.  They also paved the way for the insertion of US Special Operations units, who were conducting strategic reconnaissance, and later direct operations against specific targets inside Iraq, prior to the 19 March 2003 commencement of hostilities.

THE FACT IS THAT THE IRAQ WAR HAD BEGUN AT LEAST 9 MONTHS BEFORE WAR WAS DECLARED.

AND TODAY THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION SPEAKS OF "DIPLOMACY" AND A DESIRE FOR A "PEACEFUL" RESOLUTION TO THE IRANIAN QUESTION.

But the facts speak of another agenda, that of war and the forceful removal of Iran.s theocratic regime.

Early Stages Of The Iran War

As we speak, American over flights of Iranian soil are taking place, using pilotless drones and other, more sophisticated, capabilities.

The violation of a sovereign nation's airspace is an act of war in and of itself.   But the war with Iran has gone far beyond the intelligence-gathering phase.

Taking advantage of the sweeping powers granted him in the aftermath of 9/11 to wage a global war against terror, he has initiated several covert offensive operations inside Iran.

The most visible of these is the CIA-backed terror bombings recently undertaken by the Mujahadeen el-Khalq, or MEK, an Iranian opposition group, once run by Saddam Hussein's dreaded intelligence services, but now working exclusively for the CIA.

To the north, in neighbouring Azerbaijan, the US military is preparing a base of operations for a massive military presence that will foretell a major land-based campaign designed to capture Tehran.  Russia and the Caucasus nations understand only too well that the die has been cast regarding Azerbaijan's role in the upcoming war with Iran.

The ethnic links between the Azeri of northern Iran and Azerbaijan were long exploited by the Soviet Union, and this vehicle for internal manipulation has been seized upon by CIA paramilitary operatives who are training with Azerbaijan forces to form special units capable of operating inside Iran for the purpose of intelligence gathering, direct action, and mobilising indigenous opposition.

Further, , by operating from forward bases in Azerbaijan, American military aircraft will have a much shorter distance to fly when striking targets around Tehran.  In fact, US air power should be able to maintain a nearly 24-hour a day presence over Tehran airspace once military hostilities commence.

No longer will the United States need to consider moving on Tehran from the Persian Gulf cities of Chah Bahar and Bandar Abbas.  US Marine Corps units will be able to secure these towns to protect the vital Straits of Hormuz, but the need to advance inland has been eliminated.

US military planners have already begun war games calling for the deployment of multi-divisional forces into Azerbaijan.  Also logistical planning is well advanced concerning the basing of US air and ground power in Azerbaijan.

Given that the massive US presence in Iraq has already supplied the bulk of the logistical support/ command/ control capability required to wage a war with Iran, the build-up time for a war will be significantly reduced compared to even the accelerated time tables witnessed with Iraq.

Blind To The Tell-Tale Signs

With the West fixated on the ongoing Iraq debacle, and with the much needed debate finally springing up on the reasoning behind it and the failed post-war occupation, what would normally represent a good turn of events is sidelining the crime that is about to be repeated in Iran - an illegal war of aggression, based on false premise, carried out with little regard to either the people of Iran or the United States.

Most Americans, together with the mainstream American media, blind to the tell-tale signs of war, are waiting instead for some formal declaration of hostility, a made-for-TV moment such as was witnessed on 19 March 2003.

But we now KNOW that the Iraq war had started much earlier.  Likewise, history will show that the US-led invasion of Iran will not have begun when a formal declaration of hostility is offered, but, had already been under way since June 2005, when the CIA began its programme of MEK-executed terror bombings in Iran.

1.  this guy was describing (almost boasting) to a group of fascinated young corporate heads how he.d been working in new york when 9/11 happened.  seems they could see the towers from their offices.  what did they talk about when they saw it happening?  everybody immediately started working out how this would affect the market, that they should move funds into gold and so on.  amazing, huh? 

was reminded of that labour woman minister who got fired for saying it was a great day to put out unpopular announcements, remember? 

and it reminded me of merrick writing angrily to the UP! because i.d said that people working there weren't just "ordinary people," that there had been a reason why most of them were working in the tower.  sort of a negative spirit of place?

2.  a bit later (never mind wot i was doing in a yuppy bar) i overheard this office girl/woman talking about how they were having a "solstice party" at her office on the monday, followed by a generally confused discussion of what solstice was.  this is surely one of those hidden cross-overs that point to the Gigantic Change going on in our culture which seldom reaches the newspapers and makes it so hard to make predictions. 

was immediately reminded of the Hundredth Monkey Principle.

3.  or wottabout this?!  an outbreak of toplessness was witnessed in kilburn grange park in north london this week!  if you.d known what an uptight working class little park in irishland it is and had predicted such a thing EVER happening i.d have been the only one to take the bet.  but not even i expected it so soon!  what does that say to a leftist web scribbler?!

New Scientific Model 'Permits Time Travel'

A new model that uses the laws of quantum mechanics gets rid of the famous "grandfather" paradox surrounding time travel.  According to Einstein, space-time can curve back on itself, theoretically allowing travelers to double back and meet younger versions of themselves.  And now a team of physicists from the US and Austria says this situation can only be the case if there are physical constraints acting to protect the present from changes in the past.

The researchers say these constraints exist because of the weird laws of quantum mechanics.  Quantum behaviour is governed by probabilities.  Before something has actually been observed, there are a number of possibilities regarding its state.  But once its state has been measured those possibilities shrink to one - uncertainty is eliminated.

So, if you know the present, you cannot change it.

Fraser, I'm just half-way through UP! 230, and already my normally reluctant fingers have overcome me and taken possession of the keyboard, that almost extraneous artefact for me.

I am but 42 and yet you seem as a sweet babe to me.  Poor gentle soul, Love the Gods and Goddesses by all means but don't make any mistake they are earthbound, natural but totally of Gala.  And they are being, and will be, trampled beneath the forces which are being unleashed. 

The special places, the spirit of place is known to me, I'm a Bush Australian, my closest allies are the oldest tribe of Aborigines in Australia and I know the meaning of "spirit of place" which is the title of an album from the 1980's, from an Australian band, Goanna, which comprised of Aborigines among others and the term was an English translation of an Aboriginal Concept.

I stood and cried loud against the EEC while living in Denmark with my Danish wife, and i believe my small voice at the height of Crocodile Dundee fever played it's part in the Danish "NO", which amounted to fukkall in the end.  Mate, the battle to awaken the Danes in that instance was huge enough and we fought it as a do or die effort, but what difference did it make in the end?  That.s when I started to realise how many steps behind the "Bastards" we were.

The special places, are being swallowed up, the gentle nature spirits and the Gods and Goddesses of which the only real ones are earthly, are being trampled.  Their voices are too weak, and the foe, is too great.  True they are.  They are combatants, too, and as such cannot see the future.

For all this the future is easy to predict.  Bad guys have snuk in and, lying all the way, are breaking all the rules.  Kill they will and steal everything.  Most people will pretend nothing wrong until most people have something wrong.  Then they fight but too late and lose most before overcome the bad guys.  Then whoever left starts again.

Been there, done that.  Wonder what colour the finale will be this time.

This is just a people thing, so I guess the special places and the God's/Goddesses behind them will survive at least so long as Gaia does.

At 5 times the usual pressure, Shell.s unprecedented and dangerous, RAW GAS PIPELINES will come across protected dunes with unique wildlife, cross a fragile estuary teaming with wildlife, not once but twice, cut through treacherous blanket bog, slice up the farmlands of tiny Rossport and finally reach a hilltop where a massive gas refinery is being built to process the product just 2 miles from the region.s water supplies.

THE REFINERY will be a large combustion plant, with nine chimneys, some 140 feet high, releasing carbon dioxide and methane.  Accidents, leaks and toxic releases could contaminate the whole environment with chemicals such as carbon and nitrogen oxides, sulphur dioxide, methane and ozone.  It will be constructed on unstable bog using previously untried methods and will involve a massive amount of traffic.  The wastewater storage sump design is inadequate for the regional rainfall and will overflow into Carrowmore Lake, source of the region.s water supply, despite EU and UN protected status.

TOXIC WASTE will be pumped into Broadhaven Bay from the refinery, including lead, nickel, magnesium, phosphorus. chromium, arsenic, mercury and the radioactive gas radon.  Due to the bay.s circular tidal pattern much of the toxic waste will stay within the bay, contaminating internationally important bird, whale, dolphin and fish habitats.

Global Community Monitor  witnessed Rossport property owners posting No Trespassing signs and making preparations to peacefully and legally turn Shell away until the legal matters are resolved.  Despite this Shell appeared on January 10, 2005, and attempted to enter property that it had no signed permission for.  Shell operatives also illegally trespassed into properties from the shore and other improper means in order to begin their survey work.  Farmers then called local law enforcement and pressed complaints of trespass against Shell persons. 

Shell reportedly misled many residents whose property they wished to cross by minimising the hazards of a raw untreated gas pipeline, and comparing it to a regular gas line.  Others were warned that Shell would do it if landowners did not agree and so they were advised to sign the papers for access and get a few pounds out of the deal.  The original plan would have had the pipeline coming from 35 kilometres offshore across hilltop land opposite the Rossport side of the estuary, however recent landslides scrapped that proposal.  Shell then set it sights on the populated are of tiny Rossport.

Raise Your Laugh-Expectancy

An amazing new study now relates regular laughter with long-life.   According to an article in the latest Journal of Laugh Science and Humorology, a simple regimen of at least ten minutes of laughter a day for 90 years will insure long life.   Do it for 100 years, the study continues, and you will live even longer!

And yet, despite all of the innovations in humour, from the whoopee cushion to Comedy Central, laugh-expectancy is down.   Blame it on the economy, blame it on this dogma-eat-dogma world, but a majority of adults surveyed say they expect to laugh less next year than they did last year.   And since (s)he who laughs, lasts, this is a serious problem.

.. i know, i know, am a bible-cursed optimist ;] but i can't help beginning to feel glad that the "president" bush gang managed to "win" the last election over there. 

These days the best thing about being Australian is that at least we're not American.  I still feel like US politics is my business though, they made it so when they decided to try world domination.

I too was kind of glad to see Shrub stay in power a bit longer and, as I commented at the time, I saw his victory as assured for one simple reason.  I.m pretty sure the world is going to hell in a hand-basket and at the moment Shrub and co seem crucial to that happening.  My "pessimism" unfortunately left me assured of their victory, legal or otherwise.  Like you though, I agree this is desirable, better to see the bastards go down with the ship than to escape before it sank.  The trouble is my pessimism is still in play, and I fear that even though the marvellous performance by

George Galloway and the DowningStreetMemo should be enough to put paid to their adventures, it won't.  Unfortunately while optimism is a great idea anytime, it usually doesn't cut it in relation to human affairs.

These issues probably won't stop the bastards because they still require due legal processes which appear to have been usurped in the USA of late by Bush and Co, in case nobody noticed.  They.re ignoring the issue while their supporters are too busy swallowing to be able to look to the side.  Never mind their dwindling numbers (supporters) they still own the police, the courts and the military.

It looks like the internet has actually come into it's own on the political stage because it alone is responsible for the awakening response which is leading to impeachment calls.  This should act as a rude shock to the MSM who are already reacting, I'm noticing stories in the local paper which were once only on the internet and even though they typically were on the internet a week earlier, they do seem to be catching on.  Note our  newspaper is also part of the Murdoch empire.  OK the stories are generally "safe," but they have recognised where the danger is coming from.

The very act of calling for Shrub.s impeachment will see the players labelled as terrorists, enemies of freeeedom and democracy.

The USA is in every way fulfilling a biblical prophesy and incredibly only ten years ago this would have been impossible to conceive of.  The USA is "Babylon the Great" and if the rest of the prophesy transpires according to Daniel and Revelations, then those Americans are in for a world of hurt.

Now don't get confused by my Biblical reference, I was a Buddhist for many years before I realised I.m an Agnostic.  This simply allows me to accept truth wherever I find it, without judging the source.

Fraser, the bottom line is that the people who are making a grab for world domination are desperate, I agree this is do or die for them, but mate they've thrown out the rules and the rest of us have not yet realised it.  They ignore the once sacred US constitution (do you know amendment 22, which limits the president's term of office, is undergoing changes as we speak?)  they blatantly and shamelessly rigged the election, SHIT all over the Geneva convention and they don't even seem to care that the whole world knows.  It's do or die, and they don't intend to die.  Frankly if you take this allegory to it's logical conclusion then, until such time as we are prepared to kill them with our bare hands if necessary, they're going nowhere.

The Mushroom spirit is fine but he doesn't care for our human conceits.  The Cannabis plant soothes our nerves but she has no answer to our human dilemmas.  Personally I think I make some of the best Hashish in the world, and I shall now smoke some of this, as I contemplate the fireworks to come.  All I have ever wanted from this life is a ringside seat at what is coming up, I was born with the knowledge of the impending....... we all were.

America.s Military Presence In The Middle East

Is CREATING The Suicide Bombers

Says Non-ideological Study

"What nearly all suicide terrorist attacks have in common

is a specific secular and strategic goal:

to compel western countries to withdraw military forces

from territory that the terrorists consider to be their homeland.

Religion is rarely the root cause."

With every American general who comes out of Baghdad now speaking only in words that are hesitant, relative, depressed, with the Army and the Army National Guard likely to meet only 75% (read maximum) of their recruiting targets in the next year, with only 46% of the US public now saying the war could meet its goals, and with (according to Andrew Kohut of the Pew Research Center) .more and more saying, 'Get the troops out,' ., the US administration sticks stubbornly to its underlying thesis: Suicide bombers are religious zealots who must be defeated there, lest they attack us here. 

The logic has not budged an inch in two years: They are crazy and brutal Islamic fundamentalists, motivated by religious beliefs that would radicalise the entire Middle East were it not for us.

The problem now is that the rationalisation for all the mistakes that led the US into Iraq and keep it there is quite awfully turned on its head.   According to ground-shaking analyses by two brilliant, non-ideological scholars, it is America.s military presence in the Middle East that is every day CREATING the suicide bombers -- and will continue to do so unless and until we change our policies.

Robert A. Pape, associate professor of political science at the University of Chicago, has also been heading the Chicago Project on Suicide Terrorism.  With a team of analysts, he has studied suicide terrorist bombers from Sri Lanka, where they began, to Israel-Palestine, to Lebanon, to Iraq.  He has created a database -- the first ever conceived -- of every suicide bombing and attack around the globe from 1980 to 2003, and his findings are unequivocal.

1.  The bombers are not fanatical or essentially unusual people -- "Suicide terrorists' political aims, if not their methods, are often more mainstream than observers realize," he wrote in his recent book, "Dying to Win." "They generally reflect quite common, straightforward nationalist self-determination claims of their community."

2.  Religion plays a very small role in their motivations.  "Rather, what nearly all suicide terrorist attacks have in common is a specific secular and strategic goal: to compel western nations to withdraw military forces from territory that the terrorists consider to be their homeland.  Religion is rarely the root cause."

3.  Contrary to .president. Bush's beloved idea that "regime change" and "democratisation" will decrease suicide bombings,  Pape says: "An attempt to transform Muslim societies through regime change is likely to dramatically increase the threat we face.  The root cause of suicide terrorism is foreign occupation and the threat that foreign military presence poses to the local community's way of life.

"The stationing of tens of thousands of American combat troops on the Arabian Peninsula from 1990 to 2001 probably made al-Qaida suicide attacks against Americans ... from 5 to 20 times more likely.  Hence, the longer American troops remain in Iraq and in the Persian Gulf in general, the greater the risk of the next Sept. 11."

According to another scholar and analyst who has done outstanding and original work on suicide bombers, Dr. Rona M. Fields, clinical psychologist, sociologist, and author of "Martyrdom: The Psychology, Theology and Politics of Self-Sacrifice: "The main thing is that terrorism is a choice people make.  It's not a sickness, and it's not religious as such.  It's a choice they make when they feel that their group is threatened. It's a level of retributive justice; it's vendetta, not psychosis.  In fact, the word 'martyrdom' was originally a Christian term, and the Muslims got the idea from intermingling with Christians."

Every minute the US stays there, perceived as invaders in a foreign land, it is perversely creating the dangerous and effective violence against it and the middle-ground Iraqis whom it depends upon.  Odd, that US and British leaders cannot even begin to fathom this!
