The Jesus Mysteries

This is one of the 20 Most Important Books I’ve ever read, which is why I’ve chosen to review it here.  I WANT ALL OF YOU TO BEG, BORROW OR STEAL THIS BOOK!  It explains so much about every question that is now tormenting us!

Personally I’ve known many of the book’s elements (as you may do) and some of its conclusions, but It adds some seriously researched answers that have only recently become possible, it asks exactly the right questions, and it reads like a detective mystery as the authors diligently and honestly follow their enquiries through to their inescapable conclusions, some of them truly amazing!  (or de-mazing actually)

Indeed, this book is such a thrillingly majestic and yet under hyped whodunnit (a Search for whether there’s ANY truth in the Gospel Story which I, personally, have been involved in since my adult consciousness was first activated and I realised I was anything but ‘Christian’!) that I feel reluctant to reveal the plot.  And yet, if you do not know its Conclusions, and be able to judge their importance and earth-shaking (or actually NOT-shaking) relevance, how can you possibly make the decision to devote precious time to this merely one of your many searches?

THEREFORE, AS THE YOUNIVERSAL SHAMANIST THAT I AM (or any equivalent word u like) , I JUDGE IT’S MORE IMPORTANT THAT YOU,
MY DEARLY BELOVED FELLOW TRAVELERS ALONG THE ROAD TO NO MORE BULLSHIT, DO NOT PASS BY THIS INFORMATION THAN THAT THE FEW OF YOU WHO READ IT HAVE THE PLOT SPOILED :)

So here’s the ACTUAL HISTORY of what all that stuff was ACTUALLY about. which Freke and Gandy prove beyond any doubt.  Following it is some detail on those proofs. 

“Nearly all the peoples around the Mediterranean at some point adopted the Pagan Mysteries and adapted them to their own national taste.  At some point in the first few centuries A.D. a group of Jews did likewise and produced a Jewish version of the Mysteries.  Jewish initiates adapted the myth of Osiris-Dionysius to produce the story of a Jewish Dying And Resurrecting Godman, Jesus the Messiah.  In time this myth came to be interpreted as historical fact, and Literalist +tianity was the product.”

In other words, +tianity, the simplistic literalist sect whose rapidly re-packaged belief system the Roman emperor ‘adopted’ in order to hold his empire together, is NOT the New Revelation, Super-Morality or Civilised Culture which most of our leaders still seem to believe or pay lip service to (with tragic consequences) but, rather, the Biggest Con Trick ever played on this human species, devised by an axis of evil between brute amoral military power and conniving amoral spiritual ignorance.

Indeed, through finally grokking the Overall Picture that this book gives, I now feel thoroughly empowered, as the proud ‘Pagan’ I have always been, to finally stop holding my tongue politely (or scaredly?) and to frankly state that, beyond any possibility of error, the brand of +tianity we have today (and every one of its offshoots) has been EASILY the most concentrated evil this planet has ever seen, has done and continues to do untold damage to EVERYONE held within it or under fear of its power (‘influence’), and indeed it DIRECTLY CAUSED the Dark Ages, all the world wars, right up to and including our present ‘Empire Madness’.  and so much more besides!

Two CRIMES WE MUST alwAYS realise about +tianity,
only one of which is in this book:

1)      +tianity ACTUALLY REVERSED Human Evolution through it’s banning of ‘original’ thinking beyond or outside the Church’s teachings  this caused the Dark Ages, during which anyone who tried to live more creatively (or just differently, ‘experimentally’) was viciously demonised and ultimately destroyed.  Not so different to what’s going on today, you might very well say!
2)      Through its insistence that all ‘inspiration’ which does not come via Holy Mother Church can only be from diabolical sources, +tianity turned into demons and furies our natural gods and goddesses (the vegetable/ chemical sources of ‘information’ which are as much a part of what we find Here as anything else and which had always been “a boon and a blessing” for Pagan Cultures.).

The Unthinkable Thought
How can we explain the FACT that, thousands of years before what we today call +tianity (perhaps forever), ‘Pagans’ worshipped a Son of God who suffered and died and was reborn?  And how to explain the FACT that ALL the other “Christian” sects from which our Roman +tian version emerged triumphant did the same?

This Pagan saviour was also born of a virgin on Dec 25 in the presence of 3 shepherds, turned water into wine, died and resurrected at Easter, offered his body and blood as a Holy Communion, etc.  Etc and Etcetera, believe me, Freke and Gandy fill 20 pages with the parallels, all the pagan ones coming before “The Gospel Story,” and even most of the other +tian/Gnostic ones which our RC version later destroyed almost without trace.

GET THIS!  By the time our (almost) intrepid authors have collected ALL the similarities, “there remained hardly any significant elements in the biography of Jesus that we did not find prefigured by the Mysteries.”

Forget what you think you read somewhere (the whole area seethes with rivalries, rival lies, fakes and fookin forgeries) THERE IS SIMPLY NO CREDIBLE EVIDENCE WHATEVER FOR THE EXISTENCE OF A HISTORICAL JESUS.  “WE have become convinced” they write in their chapter, The Unthinkable Thought, “that the story of Jesus is not the biography of an historical Messiah, but a myth based on perennial Pagan stories...  For two thousand years the West has been dominated by the idea that Christianity is sacred and unique, whilst Paganism is primitive and the work of the Devil.  To even consider that they could be parts of the same tradition has been simply unthinkable.”  (punishable by death for most of the period)

Indeed, so many and obvious to everyone were all these connections that the +tian Church, at the height of its insanity (or power-driven cynicism, I really don’t care any more), actually came up with the “Diabolical Mimicry Explanation”.  They accused the devil of “plagiarism by anticipation”!

In fact, during the first 3 centuries of the Christian era, ALL the other early Christian sects were perfectly aware that, when they spoke of Christ, they were dealing with a myth, a psycho-spiritual model in the shape of a legend created (or more usually adapted) and disseminated into the culture by conscious people to inspire others to emulate this man-god hero.  Just as Pagans had always worked, they worshipped and initiated people into the Psycho-Drama of the dying & resurrecting man-god who, through Initiation into the Mystery and Death (of the Ego, Lower Body etc), achieves Oneness with Christ, Unity, Enlightenment, Satori u name it.  The Jewish group who launched the Gospel version wished to free-up their old Religion of Laws which Judaism had been reduced to at that time.  Not unlike what’s going on in modern Israel do I hear you say?!

“This dying and resurrecting godman (you or me) was known by many different names, Osiris in Egypt, Dionysius in Greece, Bacchus in Italy, Mithras in Persia, Attis in Asia Minor, Hippy in the West etc.  Fundamentally all these godmen are the same mythical representative being.”  Nobody was supposed to take the name as a single person, in an actual place, at an actual time fer chrissake!   He was symbolic of the Individual AT ALL TIMES AND IN ALL PLACES!

DODGY BIBLE SEXED UP!
The truth has been deliberately kept from us by the greatest cover-up in history.  The Xtian version is, in fact, the ‘Winner’s’ Version.  And that Winner has deliberately, systematically, and mercilessly

deleted almost all evidence of all the other Gnostic sects of the time and anything that contradicts their own version.  Paganism was declared a ‘dead religion’ .  But it never died, it’s like the Iraq War being declared “won” by George Bush.  It lived on underground, and started resurfacing again in the ‘60s.  We are it!  And it is finally going to win as evolution regains its balance & stride.

The first “Bible” was mocked up by Bishop Eusebius  MORE THAN 300 YEARS AFTER JC (supposedly) DIED!  He’s now referred to as “Father of Church History”!  At the infamous Council of Nicaea, he was one of the large number of bishops who switched their position overnight to side with the Emperor - unlike the people of the planet and the UN over the Iraq War who’d finally eaten enough of this ‘civilised’ shit.

You see, forget this sect’s history, Constantine, like any mega corporation, was desperately looking for a single official religion which would unite his polyglot Empire.  
He choose OUR particular +tian sect (no larger than several others going at the time)  because, unlike ALL the others, it had none of the egalitarian, mixed-sex, Find Out For Yourself mystical nonsense.  It was already an autocratic organisation, with appointed bishops, who ruled on all spiritual matters -  just what a Roman emperor needed! 

Gnostic means To Know, to go through the Initiation, Die, and Know It For Yourself.  But the sect that won the emperor’s contract put their stress on “Faith”.   Note the subtle but historically TRAGIC dEVIATION from the SHAMANIC/ Pagan/ Gnostic “Know Thyself” “Explore your own experience through the Mystery and prove it for yourself” to “This other guy did it for you and you just have to believe he did.”  But, from a practical point of view (and money doesn’t talk it swears), dropping all the large demands which other gnostic sects made of purity, preparation, self-observation and surviving a great Initiation experience whose outcome was unpredictable, for the officially approved ‘+tianity’s’ simple requirement of “Faith” was perfect for, well, busy consumers.  You can be respectable if you just decide to say you believe that this guy, supposedly born in Bethlehem on a particular date, died for your sins!  That’s all it took! 

No wonder Constantine, after the Nicaea conference, could with a clear conscience go home and strangle his mother, then pillage plot pilfer and poison till his death bed (all, btw, nicely ignored in Eusebius biography) and then actually become Xtian himself by saying “I believe this guy whosit died for my whatsits”  AND GO TO HEAVEN THROUGH A SPECIAL ENTRANCE IN THE EMPEROR’S PALACE!

So Eusebius (get this!) was EMPLOYED by the Halliburton I mean Roman Empire to write the official history of the Roman Christian Church and, also, (by the way) to be the emperor’s personal biographer!  Machiavelli move over, and give Heinrich Goebbels the news!  A ‘simple’ man of god (even dumb, and certainly ignorant of any real spirituality) suddenly wealthy, respectable, and (imagine his thoughts, imagine ‘Satan’ standing whispering behind him as he looked out over Rome from his fine new villa) Historically Important, the Official Church of Rome!  Now where was the emperor’s brief again:  ”1 God + 1 Teaching to fit 1 Empire + 1 Emperor”.  Think Alisteir Campbell and Karl Rove on acid! 

“Eusebius explained to the faithful [his ‘flock,’ of sheep!] that, just as the Word of God guides the Heavens, so the Roman Emperor expresses the Will of God in the government of the civilised world.”   Recognise most of this still today, especially that ‘civilised’ bit?!  No?  “So America expresses the Will of God in the Free World and all civilised nations” etc.  READ:  we are civilised, they are so many towelheads, indeed, so ‘godless’ by the missionary times as to appear “probably better off dead”..

Aiming, then, to spin for Roman +tianity a history “suitable” to its new eminence, E drew together, from literally hundreds of Gnostic “Christ” myths,  a carefully sifted / edited hodgepodge of bits and forgeries and, literally, whatever he could dig up or create that pushed HIS cult’s version, in his Employer’s REQUIRED direction.  More authority, more ‘security’, more conformance, standardisation of beliefs (no more of this personal liberation stuff the imperator hates) etc.

Eusebius’ stuff is largely dismissed by modern scholars,  He has been called “the first thoroughly dishonest historian of ancient times,”  creating, among many plain lies, “deliberate falsifications of dates,” and all in a “very unscrupulous spirit”

To take a couple of the book’s many examples, E sexes up the number of +tians who suffered in the persecutions (no more than other sects, and altogether far fewer than he maintains) and creates stirring +tian biographies that are almost word for word lifted from Pagan martyrs!!  “Without even the slightest trace of conscience, he even miraculously produces from ‘the archives’ a letter written by Jesus himself, congratulating a Prince for believing in the saviour without ever having met him”!

From Eusebius’ version onwards it was downhill for RC  and everyone!  More and more forgeries were ‘inserted’ back into history, or real gnostic documents extirpated, as and when any rival interpretations needed destroying.  Doesn’t it make you sick?  Doesn’t it begin to explain how things have gone ever since?!  The thoughts this book stirs up in your naturally shamanic, egalitarian, freedom- and cooperation-lovin’ soul, come from deep, Deep, and will go on affecting you for the rest of your life!

Another crucial theme in the book  is that Shamanic Legends have always had an Outer and an Inner teaching, the outer a sort of Fake History for the plain, amateur ‘believer’, but written in a coded form that suggests the other, the hidden level, the Inner Teaching .  There’s good reason to believe, the book points out, that, after the vampire elite had finished processing them, the Roman Church was left with only the Outer “nonsense”!  That explains a lot in my opinion!


Criminally False Advertising
Drawing on the cutting edge of modern scholarship, this astonishing book confirms, changes, and completes everything you ever thought you knew or suspected about +tianity.  FINALLY.  Like I said about the Guitar when Rave Culture came dancing onto the scene, +tianity has held the stage for MORE than its fair share already, and must move aside for other ‘instruments’ to take the stage.  If I never hear another fookin guitar in my whole life it will still be too soon!

DEFINITIONS: The Jesus Mysteries primarily uses the word Pagan for the original, and Gnostic for the great spiritual renaissance in the period in question, but keeps referring them back to the more ancient Shamanic practices.  Paganus was simply Roman for non-militarily personnel, so really means nothing more than ChristianNOT.  Best to stick with Shamanic, I feel, then it’s more clear what we’re talking about. 
But certainly, the old Pagan world was far from the primitive civilisation the Roman Church has led us to believe. Quite the opposite!  Pythagoras was a miracle working shaman, Socrates was an Initiate, etc etc.  It was a Great, Liberal, Egalitarian open-minded and extremely experimental culture, with vast libraries and techniques and creations, all of which were systematically and by frenzied crowds of Xtian- supporting hooligan bookburners destroyed, along with the evidence.

My Criticism of The Jesus Mysteries
If I have any serious criticism of this book, it’s on 2 fronts.  Drugs and Esotericism. 

First, there remains, despite all the 2 scholars’ hard research, a third possibility in which Jesus is neither a historical figure nor purely a symbolic exemplar.  He could have been an actual figure, a member of an esoteric school that was, in turn, part of an ancient lineage, making him, then, the ‘mere’ instrument through which that lineage was adapted, passed on, and continued, definitely to this day.

Secondly, an explanation of the entire nexus of this book, the very Mystery of the Mystery schools, is UNATTEMPTED.  30,000 Athenians would purify themselves and travel barefoot to the Eleusinian Mysteries each year to return spiritually renewed and bubbling with revelation.  Such Initiations clearly contained Psycho Drama, but no ‘play’ changes so many lives so deeply without the help of a Natural Ally, and the Legend was unquestionably the Shape the Initiates imparted to the Trip.  When I asked Tim Freke (an old Ally from Megatripolis days  compare that with an Initiation Mystery!) why he’d failed to mention this, his reply was fair enough: “You can only properly deal with one subject of this size in one book.”  However he also said “there’s no hard proof for the drugs interpretation”. 

Well, since the Natural Allies, the earth’s gods and goddesses with their encoded wisdom, are, by their very nature, Soft Knowledge, the only real proof in this area, the only area that’s ultimately really worth exploring, is gonna be soft. personal experience.  The only true ‘knowing’.

In the final analysis, then, though Freke and Gandy perform the invaluable service of leading us to the very doors of the EXIT, they ultimately chicken out on their own autonomy by keeping their book ‘respectable’ enuff to fit into ‘civilised’ academia!  (BUT BUY IT B4 IT’S BANNED!)

Dear Fraser,
I love the UP! because you have this sensational gift for presenting all the scariest and hairiest stuff while making it seem OK, like it's all going to work out fine.
Which I know it is, but I forget and get all discouraged.  Then here comes the UP!  And you deal with stuff that’s so fookin scary it's hard to even think about it.  And people like me are brave, so I manfully wrestle myself up to this stuff, and freaking seek it out and read it.  And it scares the bejeesus out of me, but dammit, I'm no coward, and I sure don't want to be blind-sided, so I certainly do take a deep breath and read every word of it.
And a lot of the blogs I surf, they’re nice well-meaning dissidents, socialists and progressives who are not self-deluded, and are some of them anointed by the saints, such as Noam Chomsky or someone.  And they’ll tell you scary stuff.  But all the ones I can bring to mind can only go so far, because they’re scared too.  You can feel it.  They don't even know they’re stopped by their own fear, but they are.  And if they've been knighted by some blue-chip titan, why they have to live up to it, and they have to maintain their respectability, so that will stop them.  And, yeah, I suppose one does have to be respectable in a sense.
But you know how to dramatise without much exaggeration if any, and you rock and roll with the stuff, and it makes me laugh.  It's like running up and cutting off the devil's tie.  It really helps sometimes if courage can be fun.

Don't be Depressed about Arnold.
The people are pissed off and they have every right to be.  They are in a "removal" mood, and that’s a good thing.  As soon as we do our work to inform our friends and neighbours how Bush has wrecked the country, the economy, and our standing in the world, they will be more than ready for "Terminator IV: Hasta La Vista Bush."
And, please, let this be the end of wimpy, wishy-washy Democrats like Gray Davis who are really Republicans.  The American public hates b.s. and hates fakes.  We -- you -- need to think about getting people to run for office who STAND for something.  Time is running out.

UP!  Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky, and   I thought to myself, where the heck is the ceiling?

VOTE WHERE YOU’D LIKE TO SPEND ETERNITY
FOR ARNOLD VOTERS
While walking down the street one day, a female head of state is tragically hit by a truck and dies.  Her soul arrives in Heaven where she’s met by St. Peter at the entrance.
        ”Welcome to Heaven," says St. Peter.  "Before you settle in, it seems there’s a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts you see, so we're not sure what to do with you."
        "No problem, just let me in," says the lady.
        "Well, I'd like to but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one day in Hell and one in Heaven. Then you can vote where to spend eternity."
        "Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in Heaven," says the head of state.
        "I'm sorry but we have our rules."
        And with that, St. Peter escorts her to the elevator and she goes down, down, down to Hell.  The doors open and she finds herself in the middle of a green golf course.  In the distance is a club and, standing in front of it, are all her friends and other politicians who’d worked with her, everyone is very happy and in evening dress. 
They run to greet her, hug her, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at expense of the people.  They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster and caviar.  Also present is the Devil, who really is a very friendly guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes.  They’re having such a good time that, before she realizes it, it’s time to go.  Everyone gives her a big hug and waves while the elevator rises.  The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on Heaven where St. Peter is waiting for her.

“Now it's time to visit Heaven."
                So 24 hours pass with the head of state joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing.  They have a good time and, before she realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.
                "Well then, you've spent a day in Hell and another in Heaven. Now choose your eternity."
                She reflects for a minute, then the head of state answers:  "Well, I’d never have said it, I mean Heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in Hell."
       
So Saint Peter escorts her to the elevator and she goes down, down, down to Hell.  Now the doors of the elevator open and she is in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage.  She sees all her friends dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags.  The Devil comes over to her and lays his arm around her neck.
                "I don't understand," stammers the head of state.  "Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and club and we ate lobster and caviar and danced and had a great time.  Now all there is a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable."
                The Devil looks at her, smiles and says, "Yesterday we were campaigning. Today, you voted for us!"

The truly historical, epoch-changing and deeply moving ceremony for Lee Kyung-hae, the Korean farmer who immolated himself in protest against the WTO, was held at Camp Lee - the start of the security perimeter, the spot where Lee sacrificed himself, and the place where the Koreans and supporters from around the world have been camping ever since.

Speaker after speaker had the same message: "The sacrifice of Compañero Lee was not in vain, it gave us the energy to derail the WTO talks in Cancun, and his spirit of struggle will live on in our hearts as we keep fighting for that better world that is possible."  

And, just as it was happening, the Via Campesina delegation got calls from inside the convention centre that the official talks had collapsed when the Kenyan representative had interrupted the official Convention Centre press conference by emphatically declaring: "This is over.  We have just had a second Seattle."   He’d stormed out, followed in short order by the representatives of South Korea and India.

We’d been told the talks were on the verge of collapse because of 3 key factors
a)      agriculture and the so-called "new issues”
b)      the massive protests in the streets
c)      the death of Mr. Lee
The climate these had created encouraged the 3rd World countries to once again stand up to pressure from the U.S. and the European Union, just like in Seattle.

After the violence triggered by paid provocateurs on the Tuesday, the death of Mr. Lee, and a general climate of anger and repression, everyone feared the worst possible confrontation on the Saturday.  The police brought in massive reinforcements and tripled the size of the metal barriers.  The provocateurs, too, showed up with swollen numbers, and with shopping carts filled with stones and huge metal bars. 

But the whole day and night before, the Korean and Via Campesina delegations had been leading and participating in numerous internal and external meetings, using the moral authority of Mr. Lee’s sacrifice and the farmer/indigenous peoples' cause, to forge a collective unity with students, black blocks, trade unions, NGOs, you name it.  And so they arrived on the Saturday with a Plan which was to produce the most beautiful, moving and symbolic protest imaginable, so powerful that we were all sure we had reached and passed the turning point vis-à-vis the WTO.

With the black blocks providing security from the provocateurs, and cordoning off the first 10 meters in front of the wire walls, more than a hundred women went forward with bolt cutters and began dismantling the walls, bit by bit.

Oh, what a rainbow of women it was!  Indigenous women, punks, students, old women, young women, Mexican women, American and European women, African women. 

Once the wall was weakened, the Koreans supervised the attachment of 50 meter long, 4 inch circumference ropes to the top of the walls.  Then thousands of people of all nations, races and cultures, together down pulled the walls. 

Quite literally, the power of the planet’s people, united, pulled down the walls of the WTO. 

And when the walls finally fell....  there stood thousands of riot police clearly ready and spoiling for a fight. 

But, sticking to the Plan, just when the police thought we’d attack  them, the Koreans on the front line turned their backs on them, everyone else sat down, hundreds of flowers appeared, and we held a mass memorial service for Mr. Lee.  Marcial (of the MST) then sang John Lennon's Imagine, the WTO was burned in effigy, and we got up and marched away.

Leaving the cops with mouths hanging open and nobody to fight.  The hundreds of journalists present marvelled at our collective ability to do the unexpected, to turn promised violence into inspirational peace, and to make a statement so powerful that the WTO could not hope to resist.

LEE KYUNG HAE'S FINAL CONCLUSION & STATEMENT
“I am a 56 year old farmer from South Korea who has tried, with great hope, to solve our problems through working to organise farmers' collectives and unions.  
But I’ve mostly failed, as have many other farm leaders elsewhere.  Soon after the Uruguay Round Agreement was sealed, we Korean farmers realised our destinies were no longer in our own hands.  We seem powerless to stop the waves that have destroyed the communities where we’ve been settled for centuries.
To make myself brave, I have tried to locate the real reason and force behind these waves. 
And I reached the conclusion, here, in front of the WTO gates!
“I’m crying out my words to you, the words that have boiled in my body for so long:
        I ask: for whom do you negotiate?  For the people, or for yourselves?
Stop basing your negotiations on flawed logic and mere diplomatic gestures.
Take agriculture out of the WTO system.
Since massive importing was established, we small farmers have never been paid over our production costs.  How would you react emotionally if your salary dropped by half without understanding the reasons?  Farmers who gave up early have gone to urban slums.  Others who have tried to escape the vicious cycle have faced bankruptcy due to accumulated debts.  For me, I could only look at the vacant houses, old and eroding.  I visited one once where a farmer had abandoned life by drinking a toxic chemical because of his impossible debts.  I could do nothing but listen to his wife’s howling.   If you were me, how would you feel? 
Wide, paved roads lead to large apartment buildings and factories in Korea.  The land on which they stand was rice paddies built by generations over thousands of years.  They provided our daily food and materials.  The ecological and hydrological functions of paddies are even more crucial these days, but who will protect our rural vitality, our community traditions, and our environment?
Farmers' situations in many other developing countries are similar, so I believe.  We all face the common problems of dumping, import surges, and lack of government budgets.  Tariff protection would be the practical solution.  Watching TV, and hearing how prevalent  starvation is in many Less Developed Countries, although the international price of grain is so cheap, has worried me deeply.  Earning money through trade should not be their means of securing food.  They need access to land and water. 
Charity?  No!  Let them work again! 
My warning goes out to all citizens that human beings are an endangered species.  Uncontrolled multinationals, and a small number of big WTO members, are leading an undesirable globalisation that is inhumane, environmentally degrading, farmer-killing, and undemocratic.
It should be stopped immediately.  Otherwise the false logic of neo-liberalism will wipe out the diversity of global agriculture and be disastrous to all human beings. “

WHITE HOUSE SACKS BUSH SPEECHWRITERS AFTER POOR UN PERFORMANCE

Aides to US President "Boy" George W. Bush have sacked his speechwriters following his address to the UN General Assembly.  While strong on the usual rhetoric, the response to the speech by world leaders can at best be described as polite.

A chastened Mr Bush has apparently been wandering the corridors of the White House, looking dejected and asking anyone who would listen "why those Frenchies and Germaniums don't like me".

"Gee whiz," he was overheard to say to one of the White House cats, "nothing I say seems to resignate with those guys. What's their problem?"

A senior White House official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told our reporter that the President had taken a hard look at the quality of his speeches and, given the flop at the UN, had decided that a new approach was needed.  He was apparently advised that because of their monotonous simplicity and lack of big words, his speeches were generally seen as lacking fire, except in some parts of Texas and Montana.

As a result, Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf, former PR man for failed dictator Saddam Hussein™, had been offered the job of Mr Bush's principal speechwriter.  Mr al-Sahaf, otherwise known as Comical Ali, achieved global fame during the US-led invasion of Iraq for his outrageously over-the-top statements to the press.

"We just have to work out the contract details, but we fully expect to have Mr al-Sahaf onboard before next season's campaign against evil-doers begins," said the official. While no details are available at present there is a growing view in Washington that the US may have to take on a number of other Middle Eastern countries, particularly after the Iraq Survey Group's interim report of no weapons of mass destruction.

"OK, so maybe we got the wrong country," said the official, "but we know WMDs are out there somewhere, and we'll need a good speechwriter like Mr al-Sahaf to help the President convince the doubting Jacques and Gerhards."

PR and communications expert Professor Douglas Ramsbottom of the University of Bootle told our reporter that the move makes sense. "If Mr Bush wants to continue to make outrageous statements and accusations, and tell whoppers, he might as well give them a bit of glitz, and Mr al-Sahaf is an acknowledged expert at that," he said.

In related news, US Secretary of Offence Donald "Dr. Strangelove" Rumsfeld told reporters that in his opinion it was time "that garlic-breathing Chirac" got taught a lesson. "Criminy," he said, "just what is it with that guy?"

Asked what measures the US might take to teach the lesson, Mr Rumsfeld simply replied "It would be a shame if something nasty got into his country's wine and cheese supplies."

You've put your finger right on an issue I've puzzled over for a long time.  I don't actually smoke anything these days, following having a small melanoma removed some months ago (just to give the affected site and the rest of my system a fair de-tox), however I did notice over the years how some people's weed was getting ridiculously strong and how their conversation was getting ridiculously weak.
 
There's a dubious modern human habit of finding a nice useful or yummy thing in nature, concentrating the hell out of one tiny aspect deemed most desirable, then discarding the other elements that were in harmony with it. 

This is the kind of activity that leads to the recent govt. ban of Kava Kava, which had a long folk history of wisely advised use, and had predictable results when prepared and used appropriately in its natural form for a prescribed period.  Due to a boom in popularity as an industrial stress-buster, the concentrated extract hit the market, sometimes obtained via inappropriate solvent-based extraction, arguably resulting in an upward trend of reports of liver damage.  Result: they ban the entire plant, with similar knee-jerk prohibitions waiting uneasily in the wings.
 
So yes, let's get back to our pre-synthesised roots a bit more.  A kitchen - the laboratory of health and longevity - should be full of life, not full of test tubes.
 
Am I right, in one oriental language there's only one word for 'food', 'drugs' and 'medicine'?

i reckon u have a point re the Nu-weed!  Natural variation is best, personally I’d like to see a blend of Indian, Colombian, Afghan and Scottish home grown - Cannabis is a species, like humans - and see what inbreeding has done for our lot . .  . nuff said.

Nu-weed/super potent shit is grown/selected/bred solely to maximise THC, which is only one of over 60 cannabinoids unique to the species, the others may be less “psychoactive” than THC (or completely non psychoactive) but certainly interact with each other and the smoker’s brain in ways we don’t fully understand. Pity t’is such an under researched topic!  It’d be one PhD I’d enjoy . . .although writing up the results could be problematic.

Think about it this way, imagine we grew tobacco for a super-nicotine content. Smokers would be physically sick, would overdose and die. Fortunately this won’t happen to people smoking even THE most potent POT (30% + THC), cos it’s as harmless as tea, save for your “elevator” effect and a slightly scrambled brain/memory.

Supposedly the most potent weed ever produced, stuff that had been genetically fucked about with, was a product of US government research labs, called AK47. I think the British Medical Association are probably growing the strongest THC content weed at the present time. Lucky bastards: these guys get to grow the most potent weed on earth while I can’t get PhD funding to grow the stuff high in CELLULOSE and bugger all else aka HEMP: stuff that would get used to produce building composites, high protein food and FUEL . . . I’m not bitter about people getting a good and effective treatment for illness, great, but I just object to pharmaceutical companies once again taking away that which BELONGS TO US ALL, and making obscene profits from it.

We should all grow our own  do our own research  lets start an “Adopt a Plant Scheme” whereby everyone in the UK who wants to grow a plant or two or three in their yard window box or front room does so  we could have a nationally coordinated “Seed Planting Day”. Then what? After all, we are all farmers  Vive la GENE POOL!!!  RESIST this INSANITY!!!! 

And now that the law (simon or blunket) says Cannabis is grade C  it is more or less legal to possess  besides Country Coppers with fook all else to do, inner city police haven’t given a toss about minor cannabis possession for years  but cannabis smokers still have to buy it illegally and face imprisonment if caught growing it? What’s THAT all about? 

Where was I - ah yes, variety is the spice of life! And the reason we don’t get good Columbian weed anymore is simply because the CIA run the show and obviously get a better ‘mark-up’ on heroin and cocaine sales to a captive - read addicted - market. Apparently Wall Street is hooked.

CAN U BELIEVE THE MAN??!!!  George Bush is making a state visit to Britain on NOV 19, 20 and 21 which adds insult to the injury already inflicted by the undesired and illegal Iraq war.

Millions of people will be horrified that the warmonger in chief is being feted in London.  Already many people, eager to do something, have contacted the Stop the War Coalition.  Following the success of our demo on the 27th September, many people suddenly realise there’s still an enormous movement for peace and justice in the country.  The Bush visit is the next major opportunity to give expression to those beliefs, and to mobilise the British people against the phoney Bush-Blair "War On Terror".

ALL EYES WILL BE ON BRITAIN!
WE MUST SHOW THE WORLD!!
The protests can have a huge international profile.  All eyes will be on Britain to see whether we can maintain what has been a unique movement in the face of this visit.  WE MUST RISE TO THE OCCASION!!!!!

Lacking Bush's exact itinerary, the Steering Committee’s outline plan of action is as follows:

Petition
We’re circulating a petition calling for the visit to be cancelled, which we can use very widely.  Every group should have a target for petition signatures and we should present them to Downing Street by early November.  Petition forms can be obtained from the office or downloaded from the website.

Banner Drops
There should be a banner drop day calling for "Stop Bush!" in the run up to the visit.  We can ask all our supporters to drop banners from colleges, workplaces, bridges, theatres and galleries to publicise opposition to the war, which will help build for the protests.

Rallies
Local Coalitions should organise "Stop Bush!" rallies.  The national office will supply speakers where possible, but groups could consider inviting the local MP (where appropriate) and local trade unionists in particular.   Also remember the Muslim community and school students!

Proposed Events 19-21 November
The visit takes place midweek, but there are already many indications that people will turn out to demonstrate, if necessary taking time off work, on at least one day.  So we can plan for 3+ days of activity and events around the visit.  We want to make the events as big and diverse as possible.  We should also try to create an atmosphere of militancy, but one where people feel there’s something that can appeal to everyone at some point or another.

Cultural Events: including Born on the Fourth of July film with Ron Kovic, (again at the Prince Charles Cinema, Central London) poets evening, theatre, music will be organised in London.

THURS NOV 20    NATIONAL DEMO / London (assembling at 1400 hours)
To be organised jointly with CND and MAB.   This may take a form that will be slightly different from recent demos - e.g. fewer speakers, music or some other form of entertainment rather than our 3 hour rallies which may not be the best idea for a weekday.
