Ongoing meetings between Wendy Chamberlain, U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan, and Pakistan’s oil minister Usman Aminuddin, indicate that the widely suspected REAL REASON FOR THE AFGHANISTAN TURKEY SHOOT is, as everyone from ENRON downwards knows it has always been, the building of a trans-afghanistan pipeline to open up the oil fields in the Caspian Sea. Chamberlain, closely linked with the Saudi ambassador to Pakistan (former Taliban money conduit), is urging Pakistan to start work at its end - on the construction of an oil terminus on the Arabian Sea. Meanwhile President Bush says U.S. troops will remain in Afghanistan for “the long haul”. Peacekeeping? Let the bleeding heart Europeans handle that. Building up the country’s infrastructure? Well, sorta. American troops will effectively be guarding pipeline construction personnel that will soon be flooding into the country. Indeed, that’s why Hamid Karzai is now the interim Prime Minister of Afghanistan. YES, WHO IS THE PM IN THE CHIC GREEN CLOAK? Hamid Karzai, Afghanistan’s interim Prime Minister, was a top adviser to UNOCAL Corporation which was negotiating with the Taliban to construct a Central Asia Gas (CentGas) pipeline from Turkmenistan through western Afghanistan to Pakistan. Leader of the southern Afghan Pashtun Durrani tribe, Karzai, a mujaheddin during the Russian War, always maintained close relations with CIA director William Casey and Vice President George Bush, and indeed, with several of his brothers, moved to the United States where he continued to be ‘of service’ to the CIA, the Bush Family and their oil friends in negotiating the CentGas deal. His main rival for the position, Abdul Haq, the former mujaheddin leader from Jalalabad, and one-time leader of the Northern Alliance, was seen as being too close to the Russians and Iranians; besides this he had no apparent ties to the U.S. oil industry and, as both a Pushtun and a northern Afghani, was popular with a wide cross-section of the Afghan people. His fate was sealed: when he entered Afghanistan from Pakistan last October, his position was immediately known to Taliban forces, which subsequently pinned him and his small party down, captured, and executed them. Former Reagan National Security Adviser Robert McFarlane, who worked with Haq, vainly attempted to get the CIA to help rescue Haq. The agency claimed it sent a remotely-piloted armed drone to attack the Taliban but its actions were too little and too late. Some observers in Pakistan claim the CIA tipped off the ISI about Haq's journey and the Pakistanis, in turn, informed the Taliban. But we know that couldn’t be true! MULLAH OMAR WAS ‘ON SIDE’ FOR THE PIPELINE In December 1997, the Taliban visited UNOCAL's Houston refinery operations. Interestingly, the chief Taliban leader based in Kandahar, Mullah Omar, now on America's MOST WANTED LIST, was firmly in the UNOCAL camp. His rival Taliban leader in Kabul, Mullah Mohammed Rabbani, favored BRIDAS, an Argentine oil company, for the pipeline project. But Mullah Omar knew UNOCAL had pumped large sums of money to the Taliban hierarchy in Kandahar and its expatriate Afghan supporters in the United States, some of whom were also close to the Bush campaign and administration. And Kandahar was the city near which the CentGas pipeline was to pass, a lucrative deal for the otherwise desert outpost! The Taliban visits to Washington continued up to a few months prior to the September 11 attacks. The State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research's South Asian Division maintained constant satellite telephone contact with the Taliban in Kandahar and Kabul. Washington permitted the Taliban to maintain a diplomatic office in Queens, New York. The Bush administration's dalliances with the Taliban may have even continued after the start of the bombing campaign against their country. A number of European governments were seemingly concerned that the CIA and Big Oil were pressuring the Bush administration not to engage in an initial serious ground war on behalf of the Northern Alliance in order to placate Pakistan and its Taliban compatriots. The early-on decision to stick with an incessant air bombardment, they reasoned, was causing too many civilian deaths and increasing the shakiness of the international coalition. The obvious, and woefully under-reported, interfaces between the Bush administration, UNOCAL, the CIA, the Taliban, Enron, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, the groundwork for which was laid when the Bush Oil team was on the sidelines during the Clinton administration, is worrying senior Republicans, partly because vanquished vice presidential candidate Joseph Lieberman is in the ironic position of being the senator who will chair the Senate Government Affairs Committee hearings on the collapse of Enron. The roads from Enron lead to Afghanistan and murky Bush oil politics, strange plane crashes, ‘suicides,’ spies, illegal campaign funds, u name it. Clearly concerned about its past Taliban ties, UNOCAL issued the following statement three days after the Twin Terrors: "The company is not supporting the Taliban in Afghanistan in any way whatsoever. Nor do we have any project or involvement in Afghanistan. Beginning in late 1997, Unocal was a member of a multinational consortium that was evaluating construction of a Central Asia Gas pipeline between Turkmenistan and Pakistan [via western Afghanistan]. Our company has had no further role in developing or funding that project or any other project that might involve the Taliban." Rosemary Woodruff Leary died of congestive heart failure at her home in Aptos, near Santa Cruz. Born Rosemary Sarah Woodruff in St. Louis, she met her future husband in 1965 when modeling at a New York art exhibition. He, at that time, was leading the experimental psychedelic community on the Millbrook Estate in Dutchess County, New York, where she soon joined him. They were arrested together later that same year in Laredo, Texas, for possession of marijuana. They were raided and arrested In 1966, with the future Watergate figure G. Gordon Liddy on hand. Their marriage in 1967 was also followed by an arrest for marijuana possession in Laguna Beach. Timothy Leary was sent to the ‘low security’ Men's Colony, a state prison in San Luis Obispo County, in 1970, while Rosemary, released on bail, set about the first of several efforts to raise money for Tim’s defense fund. When, with her aid and that of the Weather Underground, Leary broke out of jail by climbing along a telephone line to a waiting car, the pair went on an international tour on the run, a stirring example to many a young hippy. After visits to famous Crowley spots in various parts of North Africa, they joined the Black Panthers in Algeria, then, when their psychedelic lifestyle clashed with the revolutionary black militancy of Cleaver, they fled to Switzerland. In 1971, their marriage under so much strain (and Tim’s womanising ways) they separated. In 1973, Leary was illegally detained entering Afghanistan and returned to the United States where he was imprisoned in Folsom State Prison until being finally released in 1976. The divorce came through that year too. Rosemary, however, remained underground for 23 years, living in Afghanistan, Sicily and Central and South America through the '70s. She returned secretly to the United States in 1980, where she lived under the name Sarah Woodruff, holding a variety of jobs around california, including managing an inn in Half Moon Bay. In 1993, with the help of a lawyer obtained by her ex-husband, she had her legal record cleared of the bail-jumping and fugitive charges. By 1995, Tim Leary was dying of inoperable prostate cancer, while a very touching reunion was occurring between him and Rosemary. He died in May 31, 1996, and Rosemary managed the trust that administered his copyrights and archives for the last few years of her life. At the time of her death, she was working on the final draft of her memoirs. Don’t miss them! A close friend, Denis Berry, described her as “bright, funny and warm, and a natural raconteur who used to lecture college students about the psychedelic revolution. “She was just kind of establishing a group of friends after all those years on the run and unable to tell people who she was. She had to learn to be social again and re-integrate her life, so she wasn't constantly looking over her shoulder." Rosemary is survived by her brother, Gary Woodruff of Long Beach. CANNABIS/HEMP was originally outlawed directly by the Freemasons in America for the sole purpose of creating synthetic petrochemical and pharmaceutical alternatives that they could sell through multinational corporations they control, at highly inflated prices. FACT: Yes, back in the 1930's Dupont had a patent on a synthetic chemical compound that breaks down wood pulp for making paper from trees. BUT making paper from trees occurred long before the 1930s, and the chemicals used to manufacture wood pulp based paper are many and not necessarily patented by Dupont. A good way to blow this myth is to ask what patent number this aforementioned patent alludes to. It doesn't exist. You didn't need to cut down trees to make paper because for thousands of years virtually all known paper was made from hemp and it can be produced at _ the cost, 1/5 the pollution. FACT: Wood pulp based paper was in use as far back as the 14th Century. The pollution and energy figures cited are the result of comparing *modern* hemp paper production with centuries old methods of conventional paper production. Even the Founding Father Masons knew this. The Declaration of Independence was printed on hemp paper, as was the Constitution. FACT: Drafts of the documents were supposedly written on hemp paper, a supposition made only because Ben Franklin owned a hemp paper mill. The fact remains, trees were used because the US government gave them away pretty much free to paper producing companies, making it more cost effective than having to grow yearly cycles of hemp. Hemp is the longest and strongest fiber in the world. FACT: Flax and cotton fibers are longer than hemp fibers, as reported in Secondary Fibers and Nonwood Pulping published by the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry. Hemp produces more biomass per acre than any other plant. FACT: Corn, sugarcane, kenaf and papyrus, to name a few, produce more biomass per acre than hemp. Hemp requires no fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, or irrigation, and can grow anywhere. FACT: Like any plant, favorable climate, soil and water conditions are necessary to achieve favorable results. The best soils are clay loams and sandy loams. Heavy clay and wet, poorly drained ground is not recommended, according to a March 10, 1998 article in the Ontario Farmer. Hemp is extremely sensitive to flooding and soil compaction." An article in the Financial Times, October 26, 1994, says hemp grown in Europe is heavily fertilized. "Hemp has moderate fertilizer requirements." Hayo M.G. van der Werf, of the International Hemp Association in the Netherlands. "Cannabis suffers over 100 diseases and nearly 300 insect pests. Paper made from hemp will last 1,500 years. FACT: Wood, hemp, kenaf, cotton, flax and other fibers can be manufactured to meet the most stringent of archival requirements and last 1,500 years. Resistance to deterioration is generally a result of an acid-free pulping process, the achievement of an optimum pH, and favorable storage conditions. The raw material used has only a limited effect. Hemp paper won't turn yellow like wood based paper does. FACT: Most paper that turns yellow with age contains mechanical or acid based pulp. Hemp, manufactured in a mechanical or acid based pulping process, would turn yellow with age. Hemp paper doesn't require chlorine bleaching. FACT: The use of chlorine compounds is a manufacturer's decision. Hemp paper could be produced using chlorine, and tree paper can be produced without using chlorine. Hemp's excellent fiber qualities should replace trees in commercial papermaking NOW! FACT: Hemp's fiber length is dramatically different from tree fiber. Nearly all pulping and papermaking equipment in the U.S. is designed to process tree fibers. Because its longer and stronger than tree-fibers, hemp presents challenges in existing mills. They are willing to pay between CN$200-$275 per ton for baled hemp. Wood fiber is delivered to a pulp mill at prices of US$50-$65 per ton. The price being offered for hemp indicates it would be disadvantaged, to a substantial degree, compared to wood fiber prices. European farmers are receiving hefty subsidies of £245 per acre to grow hemp according to a Financial Times article, October 26, 1994. Rather than conform to the rules, they lobbied to get rid of them. “Southern and its buddies in the power industry were successful beyond imagination. The NMCDI believes the sanctions, which the UN believes has directly resulted in the deaths of 1.5 million Iraqi civilians, and have caused a near total breakdown in the economic, social, educational and health sectors, are a crime against humanity. NMCDI believe they can succeed in uniting people from all over the world to stop this atrocity which has denied ordinary Iraqis the right to live, learn and develop.
